How to Have Sweat Free Summer Sex

The XConfessions App Guide to Sweat Free Summer Sex

Summer is the season of many fun activities; road trips, beach days, pool parties and of course, summer flings. We’ve all seen those summer romances in Hollywood movies that typically include a young couple, long nights and sexual encounters of an adventurous type. Unfortunately, what these movies fail to portray is the less than sexy truth behind all that summer loving.

I’m talking about the sweaty, sticky and smelly bodies, sand on every inch of your skin (especially when it makes its way to your intimate areas) and the heat exhaustion that leaves your sex drive at an all-time low. But what if I told you it’s possible to have summer sex whether it be with a fling or with your current partner(s) that includes all the pleasure, but minus the disagreeable side effects of hot weather?

So forget the summer utopian romances you see on the big screen. I want to keep it real and acknowledge all the unwanted messiness of summer sexual encounters, but also let you know whether your steamy sessions include penises or vaginas only, or a mix of both, we’ve got you covered. With my sweat free summer sex guide I’m going to give you tips on how to keep things arousing yet cool no matter who your partner(s) is or are.

Analóxica on XConfessions

Continue on down for some fresh & sexy summer ideas, and hopefully you’re not afraid to get a little wet 💦

Add some ice for some spice

Temperature play is a common form of BDSM sensual play, but is also a simple way to enhance foreplay. Using ice is an easy and fun way to cool your bodies down before engaging in sexual activities that really turn up the heat. Take a piece of ice (or a few as they may melt fast) and slowly explore different parts of each other’s erogenous zones. Try starting from the top down; touching the ears and moving down towards the neck before making your way to the nipples and stomach, then finally teasing with the inner thighs. If the ice is small enough, you can put it in your mouth and suck on it before giving your partner oral sex.

Fräulein O.: Das Au-Pair on ELSE Cinema

Pass the glass, dildo that is

If you’ve never heard of sex toys made out of glass, then summer is the perfect time to try them out. Glass sex toys whether dildos, penis rings or butt plugs, are the best toys for temperature play during those hot summer months. They are hypoallergenic, easy to clean and depending on the glass, highly resistant to temperature changes. When looking for a glass toy specifically to cool down, look for those made out of borosilicate glass which sometimes bears the name of ‘Pyrex’ (you might be thinking of those baking dishes your mom cooks casseroles in, this is exactly that). This type of glass has boron trioxide which allows it to withstand extreme changes in temperature. Ok enough science, let’s get to the fun part…

Cool your glass toy down by submerging it into water or by using the fridge (making sure not to go below the recommended temperature of your specific toy) and prepare for the ultimate sensation play. If you found pleasure messing around with ice, then begin rubbing the toy in the same places you tried before. As you get comfortable you can stick it inside your body for a sexually stimulating rush from head to toe.

You do you, and I’ll do me

Mutual Masturbation is the way to go. Solo sessions with your partner(s) can be extremely arousing and can be done in multiple ways. You can let the exhibitionist in you run free while your partner(s) watches you pleasure yourself and takes their seat as a lusting voyeur; or vice versa. You can also choose to be both, simultaneously watching and being watched. Another titillating way to engage in mutual masturbation play is by laying side by side and watching an erotic film together. If your desire for your partner(s) becomes too much then keep reading because I’ve got some juicy tips to be enjoyed together coming your way.

My First Time Eating Oysters and Pussy on ELSE Cinema

Time to go down, all the way to the groundWe all know that feeling of stepping into the house barefoot on a hot summer day. Whether your house is lined with wood, stone, tile or vinyl the minute your feet hit the ground it’s an instant lower body cool down. So why not utilize those sleek chilly floors to turn down the heat all over for some super fresh full body pleasure? So forget the bed, go on and take your sexy time down to the ground.

Coffee With Pleasure on XConfessions

Freeze your sheets for a chilly treat

Now if the floor is not an option, do not worry. An effortless way to get the all over cool down without the pain of the hard ground is by simply popping your sheets into the freezer before making your bed. I suggest placing them into a plastic freezer bag prior because even if you’re a fan of wetness, you may not be of sogginess and that’s exactly what your sheets will be.

Impregnation Nation on XConfessions

Faux ocean breeze, please

Last but not least, one of the most simple ways to get frisky during summer without the sweat is by getting intimate under or next to a fan. Not everyone has the luxury of air conditioning, and cranking up the AC can be costly; for this reason a fan is the perfect fix. So turn that fan on high & your imagination along with it to feel like you’re feeling the sweet ocean breeze from the comfort of your home. Welcome to paradise Lusties, where pleasure is our specialty.

This is the next instalment of Ask Lust. From sexual health, to porn, to kinks, to filmmaking; you ask, we answer. To get involved, email us at comms@erikalustfilms.com.

Dear Ask Lust,

I’ve realised how much my sexual fantasies and sex life has been influenced by patriarchy. I’m wondering if you’ve any recommendations for ethical/feminist erotic literature and/ or porn to expand my horizons.

– Anna K.

Dear Anna,

Thanks for getting in touch! I know all too well how much our sexual fantasies and interests can be unconsciously influenced by the patriarchal, androcentric society that we are consumed by every day. The first step is to become aware of it, and the next step is to search for alternatives to counteract it. So here we are!

I asked my team to give me their favourite erotic literature and adult film sites. Read on for our recommendations….

Erotic Literature

Painting by Javier Mayoral

Delta of Venus by Anaïs Nin

Delta of Venus is a book of fifteen erotic short stories written from the female perspective and published posthumously in 1977.

Nin explores the essence of female sexuality and takes a genre that was dominated by male writers. It’s an especially impressive book when you remember that this was well before the sexual revolution was even brewing.

Bad Behavior by Mary Gaitskill

Mary Gaitskill’s tales of desire and dislocation in 1980s New York caused a sensation with their frank portrayals of men and women’s inner lives. Populated by characters looking for connection in cities late at night, this is a fierce and raw collection of stories about love, sex and obsession.

Forever by Judy Blume

A story of first love, first sex, and first heartbreak, Forever is a story of teenage sexuality and caused controversy when it was published in 1975. Written for teens, it may seem tame now compared to other erotic literature but it is an honest depiction of teenage love that everyone can relate to no matter their age.

The Surrender: An Erotic Memoir by Toni Bentley

This book inspired me to make the XConfessions short film His Was First in my Ass, so I think you can probably guess what it’s about…

It’s a witty and eloquent exploration of one woman’s enjoyment of anal sex and submission that may lead you to question your own desires.

The First Bad Man by Miranda July

Cheryl Glickman is the protagonist of this funny and quirky debut novel. She’s a middle-aged single woman who works at a women’s self defence non-profit and fantasises about a relationship with an older board member. Everything changes in her life when her boss’ 19 year old daughter moves into her flat and crashes on her sofa.

This is a very funny book that moves from raging sexual obsession and fierce maternal love. Unlike anything else on this list!

Kiss of the Spider Woman by Manuel Puig

Kiss of the Spider Woman is a 1976 novel by Argentine writer Manuel Puig. It consists mostly of dialogue and follows the daily conversations between two cellmates in an Argentine prison, Molina and Valentín, and the intimate bond they form in the process.

Sharing the hardships of a six-month prison term, the two eventually forge a strong relationship that is destined to become sexual.

Adult Films

Pink Label TV

Founded by director Shine Louise Houston, PinkLabel.tv hosts some of the sexiest and most inclusive queer and feminist porn and is a helpful resource for emerging and independent filmmakers looking to enter the porn business. Queer, trans, and people of colour, as well as older people and people with disabilities, are a large part of its community.

Four Chambers

Specializing in highly-stylized short films, Four Chambers makes films that are part art project, part erotic cinema. Their beautiful aesthetic subverts the established archetype of what sexuality should be and truly pushes the boundaries of erotic film making.

Lightsouthern Cinema

Lightsouthern’s four-part film Momentum is one of my favourite adult movies. The cinematography, 70s nostalgic storyline, beach landscapes, diverse body types, authentic sex… As the company states, Lightsouthern celebrates people celebrating themselves!

XConfessions

Of course I couldn’t make a list of the top places to watch porn without including my baby 😉

XConfessions is the crowdsourced project that I started in 2013 after becoming tired with the same old porn storylines and cliches repeated on a lot of mainstream sites. Users submit their anonymous sexual confessions and fantasies to me, and each month myself and guest directors choose two to turn them into explicit short films. We shoot from the female gaze and everyone’s pleasure matters

Sun Screen: Round up of the Hottest Summer Movies

Summer is almost over, but our love for sexy summer films is not! I decided to put together a list of all my favourite erotic summer films. From road trip sex, to steamy boat sessions, to sexy times submerged in water and even passionate group sex after an afternoon of skinny dipping. If you’re like me and not ready for summer to end, then read on because with these hot erotic films I’m going to show you how to keep summer going all year round. ☀

Wanderlust on XConfessions

Are you ready to go to the land down under? XConfessions guest director Michelle Flynn takes you along the Australian coast with real life couple Oliver & Verde as they travel in their camper van.  After watching this erotic film you will be craving a summer road trip or to pick up and take your life completely on the road. You’ve probably heard of the movement #vanlifediaries by now, and Oliver & Verde give you an exclusive inside look into their sexy and spontaneous lifestyle where sex is an option anywhere, anytime.

Sweet But Psycho on Else Cinema

Imagine you escape to a rural home in the mountains of Spain with your partner. You are two hours from civilisation and the couple who owns the home considers it a digital detox resort meaning no wifi, no 3g and almost no network at all. You are ready to relax and disconnect, but it seems you’re the only guests at the home. When you arrive, the couple has made lunch for all 4 of you to enjoy, together. But wait, it seems the ad for the home failed to include some details, especially the owners who seduce you to a skinny dip in the pool after making sure you are properly wined and dined. Maybe you realize how attractive and sweet the couple is and you’re already feeling loosened up. Are you ready to fully relax and allow yourself an afternoon of extreme sexual pleasure? 💦

This is the perfect summer film and I had so much fun making it! The performers all know and care about each other in real life, and the true chemistry between them makes their group sex even more lighthearted and passionate.

Watch it on Else Cinema now!

Romance Bullshit on Else Cinema

Stuck working this summer? So is this young writer and she’s struggling to find inspiration for her next novel. She’s stuck sitting in the office surrounded by motivated writers who seem to all have creativity flowing out of them as they frantically type their next big stories. She resorts to the balcony overlooking the Mediterranean hoping to cure her writer’s block and that’s when she sees him. Water slowly spills down his perfectly chiseled abs as he exits the sea after his morning surf. He’s a walking stereotype and she’s here for it, creativity has officially sparked.

Enter into this beautiful writer’s mind as she puts her dirty thoughts about what she would love to do to this man into words. This film is as perfect as fiction can be, but so steamy that I must warn you it’s definitely NSFW.

Watch it on Else Cinema now!

The Intern on Else Cinema

I can’t do a summer film roundup and not include my first full-length feature film for Lust Cinema, The Intern. Lena Anderson plays Maddie, an American who leaves the United States for a summer internship at Erika Lust HQ in sunny Barcelona.☀ Maddie was only looking for new experiences and to finally live her life to the fullest after growing up in a conservative household. In the end what she got was not only her first orgasm, intimate moment with a woman, but a sexual awakening of a lifetime. Three months after Maddie disappears from home, her sister Paisley (Casey Calvert) comes to Barcelona to find her and bring her home. Unknowingly, Paisley may just find herself lured by the open-minded and sexually liberated residents of Barcelona.

Girl Friday on Lust Cinema

Girl Friday is the summer erotic drama you’ve been searching for. Nica Noelle directs this sexy lesbian psychological feature film inspired by Steven Shainberg’s film Secretary. Charlie is a recent college graduate and is spending her first summer after school searching for a job. When she finally lands one working at a law firm, she is instantly aware that her new boss Olivia (Mona Wales) is a force to be reckoned with. Olivia is a strong woman who likes to dominate in the office and in her sexual encounters, and she’s terrific at both. When Charlie discovers Olivia’s dom/sub relationship with her previous secretary, Charlie’s obsession with Olivia begins to consume her every thought. Charlie is ready to submit to the allure of Olivia this summer, are you?

The Lust Guide to Having a Healthy and Happy Vagina All Summer Long

$

Warm weather, beaches, swimming pools, hot tubs, bike rides… Summers are fun but they are also prime time for irritation of the vulva and vagina.

So whether it’s a yeast infection, ingrown hairs or just general irritation these vulva care tips will help you keep everything happy all summer (and year) long.

erotic short film Wanderlust on XConfessions
Wanderlust on XConfessions

Change Your Undies

First things first, you may need to change your underwear more often than usual. High temperatures mean that you may experience extra sweat down there which can subsequently increase your risk of thrush and irritation.

Try to opt for cotton underwear if possible and save the sexy lace numbers for another time. Cotton is a breathable fabric and allows free airflow that will keep you dry.

Also, if you’re having some sweaty summer workouts, be sure to change as soon as possible when you finish.

La Reine Des Culottes on Else Cinema

Take The Bikini Bottoms Off

Yeast infections and bacterial vaginosis love a warm, humid environment so sitting in your wet swimsuit isn’t a recipe for a healthy vag.

Take a dip and then get changed into some dry bottoms.

Or, better yet… go skinny dipping. 😏

Speedos Cleptomaniac on XConfessions
Speedos Cleptomaniac on XConfessions

Loose Comfortable Clothing

Wearing tight clothes for long periods of time isn’t good for your vagina as it completely restricts air flow. The heat and sweat that gets trapped in there makes a breeding ground for bacterial growth.

So, wear loose fitting clothes and skip the underwear while you sleep to give your delicate parts some time to breathe.

The Riding Lesson on XConfessions

Ingrown Hairs & Infections

If you’re into removing your pubes, you may be prone to ingrown hairs which can cause painful red bumps or even infections.

For starters, be sure to exfoliate the area. Also, examine your hair removal method – are you using an old, blunt razor?

Aloe vera can also be helpful to apply post-shave to help soothe and prevent irritation (just make sure to keep it from entering the vagina). And, remember that there isn’t any shame with showing some hair or some bumps.

Also, try to shave the day before you plan on heading to the beach or your local pool and you’ll decrease your risk of vaginal irritation or infected pores. Open pores may not be ready for unfriendly skin environments such as sun, chlorine, and salt water.

La Mujer y El Pescador on Else Cinema

Into The Wild

If you’re going hiking or camping this summer, you may have limited access to bathrooms and not be able to clean up like you normally would.

Pack some toilet paper or vaginal hygiene wipes to help you stay clean and dry when possible (but also remember to put them in a bag and take them to a bin when you can – leave no trace!).

NÄKKI on XConfessions

So, what ever you’re doing this summer be sure to look after your vagina & vulva to make your activities more enjoyable.

And if you’re tempted to celebrate your happy, healthy genitals, go and get down ‘n dirty in a swimming pool or the ocean, but please read my guide to sex in water first!

I Asked, You Answered: The Most Ridiculous Sex Positions You Tried This Summer

$

The summer often comes with a sexual freedom and a willingness to try new things. There’s just something about sunshine, less clothing, and glistening, sweaty bodies that makes sex especially erotic at this time of year.

So I wanted to know, what exactly have you been doing? More specifically, what crazy sex positions did you try this summer?

I asked you on Instagram, and boy did you deliver. I received a lot of responses but here are 10 of my favourites. Thanks for all of your messages!

Experimentation is an important part of a healthy and fun sex life. So the next time you’re about to get down n dirty, instead of going for your go-to moves, try one of these crazy sex positions.

This is what you told me…

'The Toilet Line' on Else Cinema
‘The Toilet Line’ on Else Cinema

“Holding on to the top of a toilet cubicle, taking the weight off, while being fucked wildly”

What isn’t to love about dirty toilet sex 🔥

“Standing pose when preparing dinner”

There’s always time for a quickie while dinner is cooking, and you can save time by doing it on the kitchen counter. Check out my XConfessions short film Before the Guests Arrive for more inspiration!

“The helicopter”

I admit I had to look this one up… and wow. Warning: Flexibility needed.

“Handstand, while he was fucking me”

Another challenging one, I can’t imagine holding a handstand whilst having sex. You must have great upper body strength, bravo.

“Trying to copy Samantha from Sex & The City: sideways penetration.”

Undeniably the best character in Sex and The City, Samantha always provides the perfect sex (and life) inspiration.

Impregnation Nation on XConfessions

“Wheel pose”

This is another acrobatic one that translates from your yoga practice to your sex life. Natalie Portnoy illustrates perfectly how to do this in the film still above from Impregnation Nation on XConfessions.

“Queening”

Sitting on your partner’s face has got to be one of the sexiest  things you can do. Straddle their head and lower yourself over their mouth.

This is a great position because it puts the receiver in control, so that they can adjust the pressure and speed to whatever suits their taste.

“The “pile driver” really hot and great feeling but so funny and unnecessarily acrobatic”

OK this responder must be flexible because the pile driver requires quite a lot of manoeuvring. This is another yoga / sex mash up.

The receiver lies on their back and lifts their legs in the air until their feet are next to their head. The penetrator is on top and can hold the receivers ankles so that they stay by the head. This position will cause the receiver’s lower back to lift up off the bed with most of the pressure on their shoulders and neck.

“The boat”

The receiver lies comfortably on their belly with their legs open. The penetrator gets on top, placing their legs in between their partners and enters them from behind. Et voila..

“Pool sex… weightless like an astronaut”

A summer classic, sex in water. Everyone should have a go at this before the season is out.

Speedos Cleptomaniac on XConfessions

Are you aware of all your erogenous zones? We often associate our pleasure spots solely with our genitals, butt, and nipples, but the truth is that we can be turned on by any area of our body.

Maybe for you it’s the inside of your thigh, or possibly your neck or ears, but it could even be as simple as someone lightly grazing your arm. But the most exciting part is that a simple touch can transform into a full-blown pleasure filled experience. Do you remember that feeling when you’re first touched by someone else? The sensation sends chills down your body and makes your personal bits ache with arousal.

Tidal is an erotic film about surrendering to the touch of others while discovering all of the places that make you tick. It’s about choosing to let go and relinquish all control to the forces around you. Who knows, maybe by the end of this hot movie you’ll be craving an exploration of your own erogenous zones to find some new pleasurable sensations.

Love Your Cunt by altSHIFT

Calling all vagina owners and lovers! This film is a celebration of vaginas in all their uniqueness and glory because vaginas are truly a beautiful thing. They come in all shapes and sizes; they can be hairy or shaved; they even have their own individual smell and taste. The truth is no vagina is the same, and so we must learn to love our vaginas for all that they are.

Kali Sudhra and Ivy de Luna star in this artistic porn that casts off all vagina shame for a true love affair between you and your vagina, and possibly any lucky person you choose to share its extraordinariness with.

Are you an exhibitionist or a voyeur? Or maybe you’re a lover of both. Although we typically view performers as the true exhibitionists, we can easily forget that they might just love watching as much as being watched. So when a couple is enjoying the arousal of the erotic film ‘Love Your Cunt’ starring Kali Sudhra, they are surprised when Kali asks if she can come through the TV and watch as they play.

The Good Girl by Erika Lust

If you haven’t had a chance to see it yet, my debut film that launched my career as an erotic filmmaker is also available on Else Cinema. ‘The Good Girl’ is a remake of the typical pizza guy trope shot through the female gaze.

I saw the demand for a focus on female pleasure in adult cinema and well, it was about time we see women enjoying sex on screen! The film is focused on the fear that we are accustomed to when discussing our sexual fantasies which in turn can keep us from exploring all the pleasure that can come with them. So when a successful business woman is forced to listen to her friend go on and on about her own sexual adventures, she begins to confess that she has some daring sexual fantasies of her own that she is finally ready to try out.

XConfessions Goes Wild: Park Ranger & Lumberjack

I discovered my wildest side when I was just a girl. I grew up in a house next to the forest and I always ran away there to feel calm and safe. I soon realised that the forest and I had a special connection, and that it was the perfect place to explore my body

It was in the woods that I first masturbated, imagining that someone was spying on me through the vegetation. It was also in there that I had sex with a man for the first time. Over the years, life led me to the big city, but I still long for the forest. I can’t stop fantasising about the moment I return to find myself, alongside nature and one of those sweaty lumberjacks that I used to spy on whilst hidden among the trees.

My good friend & colleague Von Ferro returns to XConfessions with Park Ranger & Lumberjack, the perfect movie to inspire some nature-infused sexual encounters. Have you ever fantasised about losing your inhibitions with a rough n ready lumberjack?

Adapted from a confession by someone who longed for the axe-wielding man of the woods and brought to life against the backdrop of the forest. Get outdoors and step into nature to experience some passionate sex between two strangers hidden amongst the trees and soundtracked by the birds.

Returning real life couple Iana Bet and Marc Morato were the perfect performers to bring this raw encounter to life. Watch the full film on XConfessions now and see exclusive photos, behind the scenes footage and interviews!

World Sexual Health Day: What Are We Advocating For?

Valentin, Pierre & Catalina on XConfessions

Today is World Sexual Health Day! By now, you know that I love sex and I love to talk about sex, so it is vital that we also speak about sexual health.

Here are just some of the things I’m advocating for this sexual health month. What will you be campaigning for?

Sexual health equity

Everyone, regardless of their age, gender identity, ethnicity, sexuality, location, income, or citizenship status should have access to free STI testing, pregnancy testing, contraception and more.

We must address the additional barriers that some groups face when accessing health services and the fact that some groups have more reproductive rights than others under the gender binary and colonial heteronormative practices that are in place. Currently women of colour, immigrants, and LGBTQ+ people are disproportionately impacted by restrictions on sexual health care.

Sexual health equity gives people what they need to have a fair chance at sexual and reproductive well-being.

Right to safe, legal abortion

Our right to abortion care is under attack. There is a worldwide anti-abortion agenda that is trying to ban abortion. In the US our rights are under fire as President T***p tries to reverse Roe v Wade and make safe, legal abortion impossible to obtain.

We can’t stand by while they try to take away our right to control our own bodies. Sign the petition by Planned Parenthood here and follow their campaign Tracking Trump.

Healthy pregnancies for everyone

Everyone deserves the right to safe reproduction yet in the US, African American women are four times more likely to die as a result of pregnancy and childbirth compared to white women. Their infants are also twice as likely to die within the first year of their life. In the UK, Black women are five times more likely to die in childbirth.

Much of this ingrained bias is traced back to slavery, when physicians claimed that Black people could endure more pain that white people. In fact, the “father of modern gynaecology”, J Marion Sims, was a slave owner who conducted experiments on Black women without anaesthesia.

Eradicate sexual violence

Sexual violence is any sexual contact without consent, including rape. It can happen to anyone regardless of gender, race, age, sexual orientation, disability, or educational status.  To eradicate sexual violence we need quality sex education that teaches communication, consent, and healthy relationships. We also need public policies that protect and support survivors that include prevention and response to sexual assault at both local and government levels.

Awareness and treatment of sexual dysfunctions for people with vulvas

Female sexual dysfunction (FSD) is defined as any distress that is the result of sexual pain, orgasm difficulties, or altered sexual interest or arousal. Many women experience sexual dysfunction or pain during sex at some point in their life yet it is rarely spoken about or taken seriously. Society seems to be much more willing to speak about men’s sexual health — we regularly see ads for erectile dysfunction medication — but outside of birth control we rarely hear about vaginismus, vulvodynia or anything related to sexual pleasure or dysfunction for people with vulvas.

Comprehensive sex education from an early age

Quality sex education taught by trained educators should cover a wide range of topics, including relationships, decision making, condom negotiation, gender identity, body image, birth control, and STIs, and start from a young age.

When people receive quality sex education, they explore their values and beliefs about sex and relationships and are equipped with the skills to navigate relationships and manage their own sexual health. Yet too many people aren’t getting any sex education at all, or they’re getting unhelpful, shaming, or abstinence-only programs.

If you want to have the sex talk with someone in your life check out my non-profit The Porn Conversation for guides on how to speak to young people  about pornography.

LGBTQ+ sexual health

LGBTQ+ young people need and deserve to learn in settings that are inclusive of their experiences and that give them the education necessary to stay safe and healthy. Their sexual health needs often go unmet by a system that has traditionally marginalised their care. In addition to systemic discrimination which affects their physical and mental health, LGBTQ people face low rates of health insurance coverage and high rates of HIV/AIDS and cancer.

Sex ed for disabled people

Just because a person has a disability does not mean they don’t have the same desires as others, yet they are completely excluded from most sex education programmes and treated as though they are incapable of having any sexual needs. The complete lack of sexual education for students with disabilities is particularly alarming when you think bout the fact that individuals with disabilities are at a much higher risk of sexual assault and abuse. Sexual education must go beyond the able bodied, cisgender, heteronormative perspective.

Ink Addiction: An Erotic Celebration of Body Art

I’m sitting on the leather chair and I can smell the latex gloves that are about to touch my bare skin. I take a deep breath to relax myself as the needle penetrates my pores. I cannot move, I can only surrender to this sacred act.

This is not my first time, nor it will be my last. Getting tattoos has become a source of pleasure to me. My body is my own personal canvas filled with art that many can see, but only a few can understand. The whole experience is something very intimate that I continue to remember long after the tattoo has healed.

I find it so arousing to be part of this process of trust and creation with the artist. I have a desire to connect with other bodies, other canvases, to feel our skin touching and our art blending.

Read the confession by Obsessed with Ink

Three bodies merge together in an erotic celebration of body art.

In a mix of interview, dance and sex, performers Esluna, Jasko Fide and Anthony Finch share their passion for the world of tattooing and each other in the latest XConfessions release Ink Addiction.

I’ve wanted to shoot the relationship between tattoos and eroticism for a long time and Eslina, Jasko and Anthony were the perfect performers to give me access to their world.

I’ve received a lot of confessions over the years about tattoos, from tattoo artists, people with tattoos, people getting their first tattoos, or just tattoo admirers. Whether it’s the sound of the gun, the pain of the needle permeating the skin, or just the beauty of the art, I knew this was a fantasy that a lot of you wanted to see come to life as well!

I am super happy with how this XConfessions short turned out and I couldn’t have asked for better performers and crew on set in Barcelona.

Go and watch the full movie and the behind the scenes on XConfessions now! A piece of art is made to be seen and having sex is the perfect way to celebrate these beautiful canvases.

“HIV gave me a new purpose” – Philipp, a heterosexual man with HIV

Today, September 18, is National HIV/AIDS and Ageing Awareness Day. The AIDS Institute launched this day to call attention to the growing number of people living long and full lives with HIV and to ageing-related challenges of HIV prevention, testing, treatment, and care.

In observance of this day I have invited Philipp Spiegel to the blog to tell us about coping in the aftermath of diagnosis and raising awareness among people like him with outdated views of HIV. This is his story…

Published on September 18, 2020

By Philipp Spiegel

HIV is a burden. A responsibility. An annoyance. A commitment.

HIV is a responsibility. And dare I say; HIV can be sexy.

Of course it wasn’t always like that – the initial diagnosis caught me off guard. Coming out of nowhere it was an assassination upon the life I used to know. Especially being a heterosexual man; I always thought this wouldn’t affect me. Didn’t other people get diagnosed? I had always felt bulletproof. Condom use was standard; but more out of the fear of an undesired pregnancy.

The diagnosis ended the life I knew. I used to live the cliches of masculinity; mansplaining my worldly wisdoms and playing it too cool at all times. The façade of the “strong man” had always been my priority and what lurked behind it didn’t matter. Until HIV ended it.

The social virus—the emotional burden of stigmas and guilt—can be even more toxic and treacherous than the virus itself

Growing up in the 80s my picture of HIV hadn’t been updated in over a decade. The same problematic misconceptions I fight today were the first ones that came to mind after I was told “your test came back positive”. Panic ensued.

Will I die a slow and horrid death? Will I ever have sex again? Can I even have children? Will HIV change my body? HIV vs AIDS – remind me what’s the difference again?

Reality struck like a hammer. I was over.

A long, dark depression ensued and for over two years I chastised myself, doubting every single decision I made.

HIV led to insecurities and a self-hatred I had never experienced before. The first months I thought that I could feel an alien entity under my skin, my blood and sperm felt venomous.

The physical symptoms came – an annoying cold, a flu, a chronic dry cough, a strained pain in the solar plexus, cracked dry skin, and fungal infections.

Yet in reality these physical issues were dealt with rather quickly and a few weeks after I started therapy, all of these symptoms vanished. Even my viral load sank under the “detection limit” (making me uninfectious). The medication works without side effects; a pill a day and I’m well taken care of. After a few months, a new normal sets in. No weight gain or loss, no loss of appetite. No additional burden.

But the social virus—the emotional burden of stigmas and feelings of guilt—can be even more toxic and treacherous than the virus itself.

Life was reduced to feelings of guilt and fear. I started to lead the life of a double agent, always scared to reveal too much about myself. Paranoid of people knowing my status, I lived in an emotional lockdown.

The time of my infection was ingrained in my mind. By chance a lover from my past was visiting my city. We had always felt an intense connection. Lust and passion were triggered again after we saw one another, and we locked ourselves into a hotel room for a weekend to forget about space and time. She was on her period, but that didn’t matter.

She didn’t know she had HIV. She was highly contagious at the time.

Not even my doctors would think of HIV. Me? A straight white guy?

A few weeks later the virus reared its ugly head, striking me down with waves of high fever and malaria-like symptoms. But not even my doctors would think of HIV. Me? A straight white guy? We don’t need a HIV test, it must be something different.

A few months later I was diagnosed by chance. The discovery came early and my body didn’t suffer too much damage. I got lucky.

Dating was horrid. With no confidence and only equipped with a deadly virus, I wasn’t very attractive. Saying “I’m HIV Positive” with insecurity is pretty unsexy. My ideas of masculinity were utterly destroyed.

With every rejection, my anger towards women grew. Ugliness in life breeds anger and hatred and the easiest way to channel it is by pointing the finger at others.

My loneliness, my inability to share, to hold, to hug and to cry – my sources of passion needed healing. But healing isn’t found in testosterone driven anger, or hatred or blaming others. I realised I had to go onto the dreaded inward journey. The confrontation I tried to run away from for so long.

I started writing and exploring my feelings, my traumas, my insecurities. I studied this magnificently deadly organism that was causing so much grief. I became aware of my own self pity and my privileged position. I started questioning the constructs of manhood around me. How I grew up and how I acted towards women; towards LGBTQ people; towards, well, everyone

I wanted to take responsibility and use my privileges to teach and update people like myself so many years ago. If someone in my position can’t do this; who the hell can?

All the things I learnt about HIV – about the detection limit (that my medication makes sex even without a condom safe) changed from the theoretical reality to the confidence of feeling safe. That I can’t transmit the virus. That I can have children. That ironically, I am probably one of the safest sex partners you can have! I get tested every three months, I’m well monitored and I know what I have and how to take care of it.

The more I wrote, the better I got. HIV gave me a new purpose. And a new awareness. The inward journey allowed me to rediscover the passion I used to feel. Allowed me to fall again. To tease, tickle and play. To appreciate touch in all its delicacy. Touch of a finger, touch of a tongue. Touch of a fingernail causing goosebumps. Pure pleasure. Being able to fall into passionate frenzies again. A sexual awareness that equals absolute freedom.

I started questioning the constructs of manhood around me. How I grew up and how I acted towards women; towards LGBTQ people; towards, well, everyone.

A new appreciation of sex, of life and love grew upon me. And although I started writing under an artists name, I inched myself forward, revealing more and more of myself until today, where I can openly say “I’m HIV positive and I’m really fucking fine with it.”

In fact, I’ve come to realise that the confidence of responsibility and of my own sexual journey can seem attractive, dare I say sexy, to others!

Knowing I never infected anyone is a blessing. Knowing the dark downward spirals I can experience is as well. And knowing that I could find my way out again feels like a superpower.

For despite HIV being well under control (in Western Europe!), and that one pill a day keeps me and my sexual partners safe, HIV is not defeated. There’s a fine line between fear and belittlement

Knowing about HIV and your HIV status is a responsibility. To you and your loved ones. Knowledge is not only power – knowledge disperses fear

For Women, the Death of Ruth Bader Ginsberg Brings a Particular Grief – Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg was a champion of gender equality and her death is being felt by women all over. “It was also the loss of an elder stateswoman of feminism, a powerhouse octogenarian who had become an unlikely icon to women of all ages, and especially the millennial set.” [The New York Times]

What Being A Fat Sex Worker Taught Me About Men And Desire – A former sex worker shares her experience not fitting into society’s narrow box of beauty standards and how she realised that regardless of what society says, everyone is desirable. As an erotic filmmaker, it is at the core of my values to display as much diversity as possible in my films to allow people to feel represented while also not fetishising different body types. “Anyone can be a sex worker. There are no beauty prerequisites. Are there shitty beauty standards based on white supremacist patriarchal culture? Yes, indeed. But sex workers who don’t fit into a narrow box can and do make very good livings all the time. There’s a market for every body type, although it’s true that not every market is equal.” [HuffPost]

Revenge porn is ‘the new normal’ post-lockdown, says activists – Revenge porn has seen a spike post-lockdown. Pictures and videos shared with and without consent are completely different things. The latter can be non-consensually uploaded to the free tube sites and go viral in a matter of minutes. At that point there’s no stopping it from being downloaded and reuploaded indefinitely.
